NVIDIA
announced two new chips. The first is NVIDIA i500 LTE, a 4G LTE communication module. The second chip is more interesting - it is a mobile processor with integrated 4G LTE support. This chip is called Tegra 4i, and it is positioned as a processor for smartphones, which is only slightly behind in terms of performance of Tegra 4 for tablets and “super smartphones”.
Tegra 4i is a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU, with a fairly low power consumption. Among other things, the chip includes 60 graphics cores, as well as built-in support for GSM, WCDMA, HSPA +, LTE and other communication standards.

As mentioned above, the new chip is not as productive as the “full” Tegra 4. But its power consumption is lower than that of the “relative”, which may be a decisive factor for smartphone manufacturers. Tegra 4i can work with a frequency of 2.3 GHz, and supports up to 2 GB of RAM, plus work with 1080p video. By the way, both chips, and Tegra 4, and Tegra 4i, also have built-in support for HDR (high dynamic range).
NVIDIA also introduced a prototype for a smartphone with such a chip, calling it the Phoenix Reference Phone Platform. Characteristics of the device include a 5-inch 1080p display, support for LTE, and more. By the way, the declared thickness of the device is only 8 mm.
