Step over the bench

Recently, my half-and-old daughter participated in running competitions. Several kids came out on the tracks (about 4 meters long) and, at a signal from the judge, ran forward to race.

We prepared our daughter for such serious competitions for a long time, told us that she would have to run very fast in order to reach the finish line the very first, where her mother was waiting for her. The daughter, it seems, understood and even, in the breaks between the races, ran the distance several times.

And then came the exciting moment. The children were brought to the start and ... low benches were set across the tracks. Of course, the height of the bench was chosen so that any child could easily climb over them, and if they wanted to, run around.

But at the moment when the cherished “at the start, attention, march” sounded, the children, having reached the benches, stopped at a loss.

There was something in front of them that had disturbed the usual course of their lives, something that had to be overcome in order to move on.

My daughter, after much persuasion, still climbed upstairs, but refused to descend on her own flatly, stretching out her hand and waiting for someone from the surrounding gentlemen to help the lady come down. After some time, the winner still decided.

Do you think that the one who trained the most and ran the fastest won? Not! The half-year-old kid won, who walked the slowest, but the first one found the will to climb over the bench.

Why am I writing this, it is very easy to guess. The winner is not the one who does his job best of all, not the one who trains every day and studies the theory and practice. The winner is the one who, at the right moment, gathers the will into a fist and does what the rest cannot.

People may fear, infinitely calculate the options and consequences, convince themselves that they need to prepare a little more ? The fact that serious steps require serious and long preparations, which ...
Forget it all.

Just walk up, gather the will into a fist and step over the damn bench that stands in your way.
