I am the happy owner of the Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet, which entered the market in the fall of 2011 - this is the first Lenovo tablet and, I want to say, made a worthy competition to the rivals. The first Thinkpad Tablet is not just another “tablet” with a standard set of features, it introduced its own Thinkpad twist: using a tablet as a digitizer and a classic Thinkpad keyboard with an optical touchpad never seen before. Not without a fly in the ointment - on the 17th, I laid out an angry post against the Android OS by examining it on this device. As it turned out in communication with habrazhiteli, not on all Android devices, the user interface is prone to slowdown.
A new Lenovo device has been available since January 2013. The heart of the device is the latest generation Intel Atom x86 SoC processor, and the face is Windows 8 or 8 Pro, depending on the configuration, which will be considered at the end. The device has a number of advantages and disadvantages; it is generally positioned as a device between Surface RT and Surface Pro, but it has one feature already characteristic of the series - a digitizer sensitive to pressure and handwriting recognition. Due to this, the device receives a considerable bonus, since it can be used for drawing and working in graphic packages, and also greatly simplifies using classic windows software for manipulating small graphic objects — buttons, menus, links — something that is difficult to hit with a finger. Read more about merits and demerits in detail below. ')

Design
In my opinion, the design of the device was a success. The front side looks like 90% of all tablets, except that Lenovo has traditionally added a screen rotation lock button - very useful. The back part can pamper the tactile sensations of the fingers with its soft-touch surface, as well as with an unusual asymmetrical design. The thickness of the tablet is only 9.8 mm. The “main” tablet of this niche is Microsoft Surface, 9.3 mm thick for Windows RT version and 13.5 mm for Pro version. I note that Lenovo has both OS editions running on the same device. The pen for writing has a nice design and is similar in size to an ordinary pen. The handle hides in a vertical pocket on the tablet in the upper left side of the case.
Screen, sound
A feature of the display in Thinkpad models is the presence of a barely noticeable grid on a dark screen, which ensures the operation of the digitizer. The resolution of 1366x768 has become the standard for tablets and most 15 "laptops - very convenient for daily work and watching movies as 720p. There is no Gorilla-glass. The sound is better than the previous model - now we have 2 speakers and more volume.
Performance
The device works on the Intel Atom SoC platform - everything is on the chip. The processor used is labeled Z2760 and recently launched on the market in the 3rd quarter of 2012. The memory used is LPDDR2 - this is Low Power DDR new standard. On the one hand, this gives a great advantage compared to Surface - the battery life is almost twice as long as that of the Microsoft product. On the other hand, Surface-based processor Core i5 is significantly ahead of Lenovo in performance - 3 times. For me personally, time is more important than speed in this case. The HDD uses 64GB e-MMC memory, of which 15GB is occupied by the OS, 40GB is available to the user and another 8GB is occupied by the recovery partition, which can be deleted if desired by creating a recovery disk on USB.

Interfaces
The most important interface for me in devices of this type is the USB port. In this device, USB can give the consumer a maximum of 2.5 watts, so you can not connect an external HDD. But flash drives, printers and other peripherals with additional power - no problem. If you buy a docking station for $ 99, then you will have additional "powered" USB ports. Another USB port - microUSB is used for charging. Quite interesting is the optional modem access to the 3G / 4G LTE network - Gobi 4000 . It supports a large number of standards and high speeds in different networks:
LTE speed 100Mbps down / 50Mbps up
HSDPA cat 20 (up to cat 24 after firmware upgrade), HSUPA cat 6, GPRS class 10, EDGE class 12
GSM / GPRS / EDGE data at 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, and 1900 MHz
GPS data at 1575.42MHz
EDGE Power Class for 850 / 900MHz, Class E2, 27dBm, 0.5W
EDGE Power Class for 1800 / 1900MHz, Class E2, 26dBm, 0.4W
EGSM 900 / GSM 850 Power Class 4: 2W, 33dBm
GSM1800 / 1900 power Class 1: 1W, 30dBm
The remaining interfaces are of little interest for the description: microSD, SIM-receiver, mini HDMI.
Camera
Judging by the pictures and videos on the Internet, taken with the Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet 2, the quality of the camera was much higher than that of its predecessor, whose camera became absolutely useless in low light, and on bright days did not give the desired clarity. On the videos taken by the main (rear 8MP) camera, periodic defocusing and focus search are noticeable. Also on the video, you can notice the twitching-slowing down of the picture - which is why I could not install it. In the rest, it should be noted that the quality is decent.
Additional options: Windows 8 Pro - $ 50 Bluetooth Keyboard - $ 120 ThinkPad Laser Bluetooth mous - $ 31.99 ThinkPad Tablet DC Charger (USB-microUSB cable car charger) - $ 19.99 ThinkPad Tablet 2 AC Charger (US / Can / LA) (Charging 220V) - $ 19.99 ThinkPad Tablet 2 Dock (US) - $ 99.99 ThinkPad Tablet 2 Sleeve (case-folder) - $ 39.99 ThinkPad Tablet 2 Slim Case - Black (Case) - $ 49.99
Total, my order cost $ 1050. Here is what is included: • Windows 8 Pro 32 • 64GB, WiFi, Digitizer & Pen • Bluetooth Keyboard US English • 2-cell Li-Polymer Battery, 30 Wh • Country Pack North America 10W AC adapter • Publication - US English • Standard Economy Packaging • ThinkPad Laser Bluetooth mouse • ThinkPad Tablet DC Charger • ThinkPad Tablet 2 Dock (US) • ThinkPad Tablet 2 Slim Case - Black
It should be noted that it will not be possible to retrofit a tablet with a pen, because when you purchase a variant without a pen, you will receive a device with no required layer on the screen and a blocked opening for storing the pen. At the moment, Lenovo has already removed the proposals are incomplete pen.

findings
Virtues - digitizer - price for Pro version - time from one charge - wide range of accessories - thickness and quality of the case - low weight
disadvantages - the price of the "full set", expensive accessories (keyboard, doc. Station) - performance compared to Surface Pro - no gorilla glass
