TOP best keyword matching services

Where can I find keywords (and statistics on them) for an English site? You can use the services for contextual advertisers, paid and free, or specialized software. Before you - an overview of the tools for working with keywords and English-speaking services. All pictures are clickable.

Google Keyword Tool

Keyword Tool from Google .Adwords.
')
For any word displays search queries, which included the word. If you select the corresponding option, the list will also contain synonyms of this word. For each search query, the level of competition among Adwords is shown (remember that this is a tool for Adwords advertisers) and the relative number of searches.

The service is good because it provides search queries in the most popular search engine - Google. But its big minus is that not statistics are shown not in absolute figures, but in relative graphs. Another disadvantage is that the Google Keyword Tool uses captcha, so when compiling large lists of words, it is very annoying to enter them :).

Overture

Keyword tool for advertising campaigns in Yahoo. Previously, Overture was an independent service, but now it is available only after registering with Yahoo! Search marketing and advertising campaign creation. The word you entered shows similar searches (see image) with statistics for their search in Yahoo. Queries are given quite a lot (several pages of ~ 30 words on each).

Wordtracker - $ 299 / year

Keyword selection service for professional search engine optimization. Service paid, $ 299 / year or $ 59 / month, but there is also a stripped-down free version . For each phrase, she gives out 100 search queries with statistics. Requests and statistics are collected in advance (with regular update) from Dogpile and Metacrawler search engines.

Both Wordtracker and Overture statistics differ from Google, but in general the numbers are proportional to it. To compile a large list of keywords, it is better to use paid Wordtracker, since of all the tools it gives the most complete statistics, down to the lowest-frequency queries. Or - even more advanced version - use specialized software that collects information from all three sources, but more on that below.

Microsoft AdCenter

A group of online word picking tools. Its convenience tools are much inferior to Google, Overture and Wordtracker, but for an advertiser in MSN will be useful. So, Microsoft has a selection of relevant words : for the entered phrase, 50 search queries are issued without statistics. Statistics can still be viewed in another tool , but there it is shown graphically (see figure to the left). There is also a generator of erroneous words , the number of search results in MSN , etc.

There are other online services based on one of the three most popular tools: Google statistics, Overture, or the free version of Wordtracker. You enter a word, and you receive up to 100 relevant queries. But then it is easier to use the tools listed above (Google, Overture and Wordtracker), from which they take the data.

Another thing is services and programs that, firstly, take words and statistics from all three systems (Google, Overture, the paid version of Wordtracker), secondly, provide additional data for keyword analysis. This very much makes working with keywords (especially with large lists, up to several tens of thousands of queries) really convenient. In the Western market, two systems are currently leading - the Xedant Keyword Database (for Russian-speaking users, better known as the “Pastukhov Base”) and the online paid service Keyword Discovery.

Xedant Keyword Database (Pastukhov’s base) - $ 197 and $ 297

A tool for collecting and analyzing keywords, specializing in large amounts of data. It is a pre-assembled database of 60 million search queries (the database is updated regularly) with statistics on Google, Overture, Wordtracker. To assess the competition, data on the number of search results in Google, KEI *, the number of ads on a given word in Adwords and the cost of a click on Google.Adwords are provided. There is a free demo version for 1000 words.

The base is convenient for working with large lists of keywords: you can quickly get a long list of high, medium and low-frequency queries, up to those whose popularity is one query per month. For example, the word “phone” displays 205180 requests (see picture). Another feature: you can work with several tools simultaneously and receive summary data. For example, you can make a selection of all requests with the word "seo" with a popularity of more than 3.000 searches per month and KEI at least 100, and so on. get a list of N fairly high-frequency and at the same time low-competitive queries.

Keyword Discovery - $ 599 / year and $ 4455 / year

Online paid tool for keyword selection, Standart version $ 69 / month or $ 599 / year, Enterprise - $ 495 / month or $ 4455 / year. Uses a pre-assembled database of 36 million queries (the database is updated regularly). The database is compiled from various search engines that provide their statistics, incl. from Google Keyword Tool and Yahoo! Overture . You enter a phrase, and depending on the version of the subscription (Standart or Enterprise) you receive 1000 or 10000 relevant search queries with monthly search statistics.

There is a free demo version of the service, which gives only 100 queries with search statistics, but without KEI and other parameters, and requires captcha input.

- * KEI (Keyword Effectiveness Index) - the ratio of queries per month for this keyword to the number of sites competing in the search results for that word. In short, KEI is the square of the popularity of a word divided by its competitiveness. Many craftsmen are guided by KEI to determine how competitive the niche is and how high the chances of getting to the top are.
