The company
Aleutia , specializing in the development of computers with low power consumption, capable of working in "exotic" conditions, announced the release of a PC operating on solar energy.

This computer, called
E1 , is running a modification of the Linux operating system (
Puppy Linux ) and consumes only 8 watts (11 watts with connected USB CD or HDD). In addition, it is completely silent, as it has no moving parts.
The dimensions of the Aleutia E1 are only 11.5 × 11.5 × 3.5 cm. As for the “stuffing”, it is unfortunately not outstanding: 200 MHz x86 processor, 128 MB of RAM and 2 GB flash drive. There are also three USB ports, a 10/100 Ethernet port and a VGA port for connecting an LCD monitor with a resolution of up to 1280 × 1024 pixels. But the most important thing in E1 is, of course, the ability to work on solar batteries, as well as from a conventional battery.
The cost of the minimum configuration (it includes the PC itself, a mouse, a waterproof rubber keyboard and a two-gigabyte flash card) is not so little - 179 pounds. The maximum configuration (called an “ultra-portable” office, ultra-portable) with a solar battery, a battery, an 8-inch monitor, and a couple more lotions will cost about $ 1,000 (499 pounds).
