The source code for the Opera browser's Presto engine is likely to be open

Haakon Wium Lee , the incumbent chief engineer (CTO) of the Norwegian company Opera Software, which develops the Opera browser, sent literally the following to the developers of the WebKit browser developers:

It will be clear that it’s not a problem. So far, it looks good :)

Thus, the main developer of the company fully admits the possibility of publishing the source codes of the outgoing Presto , over whose development the best minds have been struggling for almost 19 years.

I think it's time for the community to come together and show the importance of potential source publication by signing the appropriate petition . At the moment, more than 1,000 signatures have been collected.

If Opera Software requests a ransom for the source codes, I’m ready to personally participate in organizing a fundraising campaign. I hope that quite a few people dream of repeating the story, the result of which was the appearance of the Blender 3d editor.
