Google will pay Apple $ 1 billion in 2014 for the right to be the default search engine in iOS

In the world of corporations, it is sometimes difficult to make out who is an enemy, friend or partner. Most often, all this is combined. All this is true for corporations Google and Apple. Companies are both partners and opponents of each other in a number of lawsuits. Nevertheless, business relations between companies are maintained and even strengthened, and it is mutually beneficial. So, in 2014 Google will pay about 1 billion US dollars to Apple for ensuring that the search service of the “corporation of good” remains the default search engine in iOS. It is worth noting that in 2009, Google paid for the same right only 82 million dollars.

Of every dollar of profit that Google gets from a search service on iOS (advertising, plus user data that is useful to the company), Apple gets 75 cents from Google. And the deductible share of profits will only increase due to the increasingly active promotion of iOS.

In addition, Google continues to pay and the Mozilla Foundation to be the number one search engine on the Firefox browser. In 2014, Google will pay $ 400 million for this. The Corporation of Good remains the main financial partner of Mozilla, in any case, this is exactly what follows from the financial reports of the Mozilla Foundation .

It is worth noting that Apple gets more and more money from Google because Microsoft is trying to promote its own search service, spending considerable funds. So, now Bing is the default search service in Nokia and BlackBerry devices. Probably, to lay out a billion dollars for being a default search service in iOS, Microsoft is not ready.
