For the past 11 years, an international competition of student program projects Imagine Cup has been held. This year the competition
has undergone significant changes , and student projects are expected in three categories:
innovation ,
games and
social projects . Regional competition finals will be held in more than 10 cities of Russia in March 2013, and the top 20 teams will be selected to participate in the Russian competition finals and a special
educational accelerator , and the three best teams will receive
funding from the Microsoft Seed Fund . For teams applying before
February 15, an
additional online training program will be organized in collaboration with
ITMO and the
Skolkovo Open University , which will include a technological and entrepreneurial component.

This year, the Imagine Cup is not only a competition of student projects, it is also an excellent
educational initiative that helps to turn student ideas into concrete projects and technological start-ups. Starting from the
technology schools Imagine Camp , which took place at about 20 points throughout Russia and online (
record ), ending with a unique
online school on technology entrepreneurship , conducted for all students who
have applied for the Imagine Cup and a special
two-day accelerator for the participating teams Russian finals. In the course of the accelerator, we will try to individually pay attention to each project, help formulate and improve the business model, train participants in effective public speaking skills, give an opportunity to communicate with potential investors, coaches, other successful startups. And an online school will allow you to get an idea of technology entrepreneurship, learn basic business models, and learn how to quickly create a prototype product and assemble the right team. At this stage, even you have only the idea of a potential startup - it is not too late to apply for the competition and learn everything you need to put this idea into practice.
Well, if you already have your startup, participation in the contest will also be useful for you! You can get new knowledge and new acquaintances, once again verify the idea of your project before the jury (which includes not only business representatives and investors, but also the press, university professors and researchers, government representatives - all this will help you look at the project from different angles and get useful tips), to talk extensively about your project (the best projects of Russia are widely publicized in newspapers and
on television , and the winners of the international final - on top Internet sites) - and finally fight for
mini - Microsoft seed fund grants for the three best participants in the final, totaling $ 30,000 and for the grand prize
at the international final - $ 50,000.
We sincerely hope that every year the Imagine Cup becomes more interesting and useful for students and young entrepreneurs, and we look
forward to your applications for the competition by February 15, 2013.
