JJ Abrams and Valve CEO Gabe Newell announced that the director will (possibly) be working on the screen version of Half-Life and Portal.
Together they spoke Wednesday at the DICE conference in Las Vegas. The main thing in their announcement was that Abrams company Bad Robot and Valve will make games together.

“We have an idea for a game that we would like to work on with Valve,” said Abrams in a speech.
And in passing, he noted that Bad Robot Productions and Valve Software are hoping to transfer Portal and Half-Life "on film." So far, as far as is clear from the news, projects are only being discussed and whether they will be realized at all in life is unknown.
Anyway, Abrams seems to be becoming the main director of films for geeks - in the spring a new Star Trek comes out, besides he will be shooting a new part of Star Wars, at least the seventh, which should be released in 2015.
