Ubuntu Phone will be available in October 2013

Mark Shuttleworth, CEO of Canonical Ltd., announced that the new Ubuntu Phone phones will be available to customers in early October this year. Developers will have access to the phone's operating system at the end of this month. Now, as you know, Ubuntu Phone OS is optimized for the Galaxy Nexus, and demonstrated on this device.

According to Mark, smartphones will be interesting, first of all, for corporate users, since they will contain a number of tools for working with internal services of companies / corporations. As mentioned earlier, smart phones based on the mobile version of Ubuntu can work as full-fledged desktop computers, provided that the appropriate accessories are connected.

It is necessary to connect a mouse, keyboard, monitor, and we can work with full desktop applications like LibreOffice. After disconnecting the periphery, the device turns back into a regular smartphone. Most likely, applications for Ubuntu Phone OS will be available after the new gadgets go on sale.

Mark Shuttleworth also said that in October, Ubuntu Phone will be available for "two large geographic markets." However, it is not mentioned what exactly these markets will be. Most likely, one of the markets is North America. On the second, you can guess that this will be Europe, although not necessarily.

Well, it is worth remembering once again how it all looks, at least in the pre-alpha version:
