Microsoft accuses Google of reading user letters

Microsoft has launched a new phase of its Scroogled anti-Google ad campaign, The Verge writes . Last time, the company accused the search giant of dishonest ranking of search results, and this time the object of the attack was Gmail.

Under the slogan “Do you think Google respects your privacy? Think again. ”Microsoft explains how its own Outlook.com“ gives priority to privacy ”, while Google“ reads all your personal email correspondence ”using its content in contextual advertising.

This is not the first time Microsoft has criticized Gmail. Last year, the company ordered full-page advertisements in The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, in which Google also criticized confidentiality for Google. This was followed by a video of Gmail Man, originally intended only for company employees, but eventually published on the company's official channel on YouTube.

Microsoft claims that 70% of users do not know that email providers "read" mail to sell advertisements, and that 88% of people do not approve of the practice. However, the difference between the approaches of the two companies is not so obvious, given that, according to The Wall Street Journal, Microsoft, when displaying advertising, takes into account the headers of letters in Outlook.com.

Check out two new videos made by Microsoft - the company hasn’t answered whether they are the work of Mark Penn - the recently hired former strategist Clinton, but they feel the spirit of political attacks. The Verge also recalled that the decision on a new campaign against Gmail could have been related to Google’s recent refusal to support Exchange ActiveSync.
