Microsoft yielded to Yandex fourth place in the global search in the number of search queries. According to statistics from ComScore, Microsoft moved into fifth place, skipping ahead the search engine from Russia. Microsoft is not only about the Bing search engine. The statistics also includes other sites and services, such as microsoft.com, Windows Live, etc. In Yandex, not only search was taken into account, but other services, such as maps, traffic jams, cars, and others. The first three looks unchanged. These are Google, Baidu and Yahoo!
For the first time, this information became known in November, when Yandex processed 4.62 billion search queries, while Microsoft processed 4.48 billion search queries. But this meant that each company had a 2.6% share of the entire global search. Yandex continued to increase the advantage and in December the figures were as follows: Yandex processed 4.84 billion requests (2.8%), and Microsoft 4.48 billion requests (2.5%).
')
For comparison, Google has remained the leader with 114.73 billion processed queries in the same month, with a search market share of 65.2%. Baidu follows next with 14.5 billion requests (8.2%). In third place is Yahoo! with an indicator of 8.63 billion (4.9%). Despite the fact that Yahoo search is powered by Bing, comScore considers Yahoo! and Microsoft sites separately.
An interesting fact is that the number of unique visitors to Microsoft's sites in December was 268 million, and only 74.4 million unique users took advantage of Yandex. Here everything is explained by language reasons. In English-speaking countries, users can use other search engines besides Google, for example. The situation with Yandex is that it is the leader of the Russian-speaking segment (it has more than 60% in Russia) and people use it quite intensively.
It remains only to congratulate Yandex and wish not to slow down in achieving their goals. And then look and Yahoo! will be left behind!
