Getting user email via Vkontakte API

Perhaps the title of my topic, already beaten beyond recognition, and even, can cause sarcastic smiles on the faces of readers. But, nevertheless, I will try.

Although doing web development, and programming in general, not so long ago, I still had to face the API of social networks, such as Facebook and Vkontakte. Robot with "likes" and other data was a great success. But here, I got into a deadlock: how do I link users to a shared account (the problem was following Vkontakte, unlike my older brother, I did not want to give the user email). After reading a lot of forums, various FAQs, I came to the conclusion that this is still impossible. They say that social network developers do not want to give out such confidential information about their users. I had to accept it. The task was solved in another way, but in the shower a small insult lurked.

But, my post, a little about it. Just today, I came across the following site: afisha.ru . At first glance, the usual site in the vast Runet. But the most interesting thing for me was inside when I decided to log in as a user.

In order not to register for a long time, I quickly pressed the enter button via Vkontakt and here I was waited by the first surprise, the standard window, to request rights to the application, apart from the fact that it can receive my email.


After that, in my personal account, in personal data, my email was calmly highlighted.
I got on the Internet, there is not any news on this topic, in the Kontakt section on the API is also silence.

I didn’t find any news about the fact that Contact still gives email.

So, soon, and they will please us with this? Or is it the consequences of the Mayan apocalypse?
