After the release of the first phones based on the x86 platform -
Medfield - in the fall of 2012, and their debut on the world market, not much time passed. But already this January, new models of phones with x86 architecture were announced - on new platforms
Lexington and
Clover Trail .

Accordingly, these solutions are a budget solution -
Lexington (a budget version similar to SoC Medfield) and a solution for the mid-top segment based on the dual-core
Clover Trail , according to all announcements and forecasts that exceed the power consumption and performance of the Nvidia Tegra3 based solution and can compete with promising SoC.

Lexington

At the moment, announced several devices:
- Lava Xolo X500 - phone for the Indian market for about $ 170
- Yolo - the first phone for the African market on the x86 platform for about $ 115
- Acer Liquid C1 - will go on sale in February on the Thai market for about $ 335
All solutions are very, very low cost, while with very good performance. Models for the US and America have not yet been announced, but most likely, as in the case of Medfield, they will appear with a slight delay in the markets of Europe and Russia.
CloverTrail
But the well-known phone on the new high-performance platform is only one: the
Lenovo IdeaPhone K900
Again, announced for the Asian market only, the phone is impressive and pleasing to the eye. In a stylish case made of composite materials and stainless steel, it has excellent characteristics:
- OS: Android v4.1 Jelly Bean
- Display: 5.5 ″ Full HD (1920 x 1080)
- 2.0GHz Dual-Core Intel Atom Clover Trail + Processor
- Main camera: 13.0 megapixel Sony Exmor Image Sensor (with a aperture of 1.8)
- Front camera: 2.0 MP
- RAM: 2GB
- Memory: 16GB with expansion up to 64GB
- Multi Format Audio / Video Player
- 3G: UMTS 1900/2100 MHz
- 2G: GSM 850/1900 MHz
- Wi-fi: IEEE 802.11 b / g / n
- Bluetooth, USB v2.0
- Weight: 162 grams
- Thickness: 6.9mm
- Color: gray \ black
The price has not been disclosed yet, but it is expected at $ 480- $ 560, which in the Chinese market corresponds to the price of flagship models from other brands.
With the release of the phone, it is especially interesting to see and test synthetic and native tests (for example, the result of Antutu is 25,000-27,000; for comparison: the result of the HTC Droid DNA is 14,000) to see the capabilities of the phone and its compatibility with existing applications. In the case of Medfield, using the ARM-> x86 translator, good compatibility of applications from Google Play was provided, of course, with the rare exception of those applications that used native architecture-dependent libraries directly (for example, such as codecs). Separately, I want to note the characteristics of the camera - the quality, optics and aperture of which allow to hope for an excellent quality of shooting.
I want to believe that the model range based on CloverTrail will continue to expand with different - large and small models, to enter global markets, including Russian, at an adequate, global, rather than overpriced, and that the technical characteristics of other models please as well , as is the case with the first announced smartphone from Lenovo.
