Google Chairman Eric Schmidt and French President Francois Hollande announced that Google agreed to create a fund with a budget of 60 million euros to help the French media improve their Internet activities,
reports BBC News. Apparently, this in particular implies assistance in monetizing news through AdSense.
Google reached an agreement with French publishers after two months of negotiations — local news sites demanded payment by the search giant for the privilege of displaying their news in search results. In the event of the failure of the negotiations, the French government threatened to tax Google's income from advertising in extradition, and Google, in turn, threatened to exclude French media from extradition.
In addition to creating a fund, Google agreed to give French media access to its advertising sites at a reduced price. Compromise allows them not to pay a license fee.

“France is proud to have reached this agreement with Google, the first of its kind in the world,” the administration’s French president tweeted.
Experts point out that Google has now in fact enabled other countries ’newspapers to make similar demands:“ This creates a precedent that other publishers can take advantage of. ”
