Twitter hacked. 250k accounts at risk

On Friday evening (February 1), Twitter announced that last week its systems were attacked by an unknown group of hackers. As a result of the attack, attackers may have accessed nearly a quarter of a million Twitter users with usernames, email addresses and other sensitive information.

“This week, we discovered unusual access patterns that allowed us to detect unauthorized access to Twitter user data. We found the attack and were able to close it in the process a moment later, ”the company said in its blog . “However, an attack study indicates that the attackers may have had access to limited user information — names, email addresses, sessions, and encrypted passwords for about 250,000 users.”

On Friday evening, Twitter sent emails to those users whose accounts could be hacked, notifying them that the company would automatically reset passwords, and you need to request new ones to access the service.
