The question put up in the title, are now asked by many authors of foreign news IT-resources. The relatively soon arrival of the third version of the universal serial bus has been known for a long time, but only recently the dates for the launch of the first devices supporting USB 3.0 became known. If you believe the persons responsible for developing the standard, then the first pieces of iron will be available in early 2009, and detailed specifications will be announced at the beginning of the coming year. So far it is known only that the data transfer rate via USB 3.0 will reach 4.8 Gbit per second, which is an order of magnitude more than USB 2.0. This will be possible through the use of a new hybrid cable consisting of copper and fiber. The new standard promises full compatibility with all previous versions of USB, as well as some improvements in terms of transmission and power consumption.
All this, of course, is good, but will USB 3.0 be demanded along with a mass of wireless interfaces, which speed characteristics also do not stand in place?
