Google acquires face recognition technology

Perhaps soon in the photographic service Picasa will face recognition function. Such technologies are being developed by the small company Neven Vision , which was announced to be bought by Google.

Neven Vision owns a number of patents in the field of pattern recognition. These technologies are used in photo, video and 3D animations, and their use goes far beyond face recognition.

Google has long wanted to acquire this kind of technology in order to improve the sorting of photos in its Picasa photo service. For example, in the description of the photos the names of the people shown in the pictures automatically appear. Earlier it was reported that Google can buy image recognition technology from the company Riya , but this did not happen.
