NeoQUEST - 2013: start of registration

Greetings to all in the New Year! Tired of the long holidays? Boils a mind indignant idleness? There is a chance to direct the accumulated energy to solving interesting problems. Registration for NeoQUEST-2013 is announced open, and the hack quest itself will begin very soon - on February 4th ! According to the results of NeoQUEST-2012, we received a large number of feedbacks (for which many thanks to all of you), tried to take them into account and make NeoQUEST-2013 even better.

What is NeoQUEST-2013

NeoQUEST is an open competition, in which everyone who practices or is interested in the field of information security and wants to evaluate their level are invited to participate. The last quest showed that (who would have thought!) Teams always perform better than individual participants and take all the main prizes. It seems to us that this is unfair, we decided that NeoQUEST-2013 will be a competition primarily for individual participants, and not for teamwork, this competition takes into account only the individual competition.

NeoQUEST-2013 will be held in two rounds. The first round - in absentia, will be held from February 4th to 18th. The winners and the most successful participants will pass to the second round - full-time, which will be held in St. Petersburg in the summer of 2013. Despite the fact that most of the prize pool and the main prize itself will be drawn in the second round, participants in the first round will also receive prizes. The winner of this tour will receive an interesting Android device, in addition there will be Apple devices, and, of course, special prizes for finding non-standard moves and workarounds for solving tasks.

Tasks NeoQUEST-2013

As in the past year, tasks related to various areas of security were included in the quest: webhacking, reverse engineering, SCADA systems security, steganography, mobile applications security ... This year, unlike in the past, there is no rigid order for completing tasks, all tasks can be pass in any order, choosing the most interesting for you personally. A dynamic scale of points will be applied: the more participants passed the task, the less points will be awarded for it and vice versa. So we wish you success in completing tasks that no one except you can pass!

Prelaunch readiness

Many participants of hack quests study at universities and choose a place to continue their education. There is good news for them: successful participation in NeoQUEST-2013 will be taken into account when entering graduate school and magistracy at the department of “Information Security of Computer Systems” at St. Petersburg State Polytechnical University.
