Russian President Vladimir Putin sent Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov a request to create two new state bodies - the Federal Agency for Information Systems and the Federal Agency for the Development of Exports in Information Technology. This was announced at a press conference by the Minister of Information Technologies and Communications of the Russian Federation, Leonid Reiman.
The Federal Agency for Information Systems is designed to provide a higher level of integration in the creation and use of information systems, resources and technologies in executive bodies.
It is planned to entrust the federal agency for the development of exports in the field of information technologies with the provision of information, analytical and marketing support services for the promotion of IT goods and services on the world market. Currently, IT exports are the leading non-resource exports to Russia. According to
Prime-Tass , it is growing by 30% per year, and in 2005 export volume amounted to $ 1 billion.
