Nokia patent: clamshell with touchscreen instead of keyboard
Among the materials of the US patent office was found an interesting development of Nokia. It seems to be directly related to the upcoming S60 Touch touchscreen interface. This is a mobile clamshell phone with two displays, one of which can be used as an additional screen or control touch panel. Switching between these two modes is carried out automatically and depends on the angle of opening of the device. If the device is opened at 160 degrees, then the lower display goes into touch panel mode. And when fully opened (180 degrees), it works simply as a second screen. Of course, Nokia is not the first company working on the idea of a mobile device with a touch screen instead of a keyboard. However, such a solution, especially on the basis of the new S60 Touch interface, can be interesting.
