Tomorrow will be, perhaps, a significant day in the history of copyright. Kim Dotcom, founder of the infamous
MegaUpload , will deservedly bathe in glory as the creator of the first innovative file storage using client-side encryption ... But.

We are happy for him, but we also understand that this glory will be somewhat bitter, because “these ubiquitous Russians” are still ahead of him with their wits :)
Habravchane, let me introduce you to
MegaReload.se - a service that we invented before Kim started talking about his new
Mega (for a fact, the date of registration of the domain megareload.se is 2012-06-23).
')
A remarkable point is that initially we did not plan to overtake anyone. Moreover, the service was conceived solely as an adequate response to the copywriting lobby for their oppression. But Kim's subsequent activity surprised us at first (it turns out we guessed the development vector), then we were a little worried (we thought he would do the same), and then added excitement (we understood that he was not doing something interesting, but the result will be).
A distinctive feature of our
MegaReload , in contrast to the new incarnation of
Mega , is the use of passwords. We do not store keys in the cloud, as Kim wants.
We provide users with the ability to use their passwords (complex or simple - anyway), and these passwords are used to generate the corresponding keys (via PBKDF2).
The entire encryption and decryption procedure is currently taking place in
java applets on the user's side , moreover, in streaming mode. The file server operates with an encrypted result only. Thus, without knowing the password, it is impossible to find out what exactly is stored in the downloaded files.
The service is new and it is necessary to finish some incompleteness in it - such as a list of downloaded files in your account, API, affiliate program (and perhaps something else that the respected habravchane will tell) ... but it is already working.
Welcome to
MegaReload.seIf there is interest from the habrasoobshchestva, we describe in more detail the technical features of the service.
ps From Russia with love, Kim;)
