Lenovo launches Chromebook for schools based on ThinkPad X131E

Lenovo has expanded the ranks of laptop manufacturers running Chrome OS. Lenovo's Chromebook is based on the ThinkPad X131E model and is positioned as a device for educational institutions. Sales will begin on February 26, the price - from 429 dollars. For another $ 30, schools or other institutions can buy support and a pre-installed Management Console application designed to manage an “ensemble” of many devices. X131E has a reinforced impact resistant construction, rubberized edges and must withstand fairly harsh operating conditions and careless handling. This explains the relatively high price with a rather modest characteristics:

Plus, of course, like the rest of the ThinkPad models, the X131E has a matte red display and a TrackPoint pointing device.

I'd add that TrackPoint, in my subjective opinion (I had a ThinkPad X100E), is a much more convenient thing than a touchpad, and the quality of keyboard performance of even the cheapest Lenovo laptops makes you happy and surprised. In addition, the Intel processor means that there should be no problems with installing a full-fledged desktop OS.
