The remote and the USB module are inside the frame.

The “frame” is made in the PCMCI form factor, i.e. conveniently hides in a laptop when there is no need for a remote control.

When it is necessary - we get, “break off” the USB-module, connect it to the laptop. And voila - the remote control can perform all the basic actions with media content.
For example, I often feel lazy to burn movies on DVD to watch on a domestic player. Therefore, I connect the laptop to the TV and watch movies through it. So I think the idea is useful.
Plus it is convenient to carry around with you - at presentations and similar events. The remote is always in the laptop.
Plus no need to be perverted with infrared devices.
The radius, however, is not large - only 10 meters. Probably, data exchange goes via bluetooth.
It costs $ 30, which is not very expensive for such a kit.
