TrackingPoint, Inc. Founded in February 2011, John McHale - an avid hunter and founder of several IT companies - NetWorth (purchased by Compaq), NetSpeed ​​(bought by Cisco), TippingPoint (bought by 3COM), BreakingPoint (bought by IXIA). In addition, McHale worked on anti-tank missile guidance systems and precision improvements for various tank systems.

The idea of ​​a computer-controlled rifle occurred to him in 2009, on a safari in Africa, when he missed the Thompson gazelle because of the very difficult shooting conditions. The result of the research is a relatively inexpensive sniper rifle - about $ 20,000 - with a sight that is guided by the suspiciously familiar principle of clicking with the index finger on a button and allows even a perfect teapot to instantly become a sniper.

The general scheme of the system is as follows: the arrows points to the target with a special marker in the sight and clicks the button to capture the target. The sight captures the target, analyzes the environment, the distance and moves the crosshairs to the target where, according to his calculations, the bullet should fly. Then, when combined with a mark on the target, the crosshair is illuminated - you can shoot. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know how to shoot at all, and the rifle walks in your hands in such a way that it doesn’t work properly on the target. A computer-controlled trigger will not give a “wrong time” to shoot. If desired, all this is disabled and the NTS works simply as a heaped sight.

The sight can be controlled from a mobile application for iOS or Android, you can also record and save video of shots on your mobile device, download updates and change various settings. Another application allows you to watch a video stream with a sight, which can be useful for the second in a sniper pair.
