Google, besides its main projects, has long been engaged in investing in all sorts of "green" projects. The number of such projects has recently included a wind farm from Texas, in which the “Corporation of Good” has invested about $ 200 million. This is not a voluntary donation, but an investment, which, according to company representatives, may well pay off.
Spinning Spur Wind Project produces 161 megawatts of energy, which is enough to supply 60,000 households. The power plant includes 70 windmills, which produce energy. The facility earned full capacity at the end of 2012. One of the senior managers of the company said that he considers investing $ 200 million in a “wind farm” a smart investment.

It is worth noting that the data centers of the company, if they simultaneously operate at full capacity, will consume about 476 megawatts of energy. This is enough to provide energy to all the houses in such a rather big city like San Diego. True, the company itself claims that at the same time all data centers never operate at full capacity.
By the way, this project is already the tenth in a row, starting in 2010 (it was then that the corporation, for the first time, invested heavily in “green” technologies). This is the second largest investment, which is second only to an investment of $ 280 million in Solar City, a company operating in the field of solar energy. Of the 10 investments in green projects, 5 were made in projects related to wind energy, and 5 in projects related to solar energy.
The total amount of Google's investment in alternative energy, so to speak, is already 1 billion US dollars. Representatives of the company said that these 10 projects are capable of producing about 2 gigawatts of energy per year, which is enough to provide 500,000 homes per year.
