The new pocket console GCW Zero, about which I wrote more than six months ago , appeared on Kickstarter . The console is fully Open-Source, except for the OpenGL-ES driver. Kernels and compilers are almost always up-to-date, for example, now the console runs on the 3.7 kernel, and in the GCC 4.7.2 toolchain
The console itself can be updated on wifi, there is a package manager through which you can install games, and in the near future the app market will appear. At the moment, a decent amount of games and applications have been ported to this portable, among developers:
Maarten ter Huurne (mth) : Freelance engineer, contributor to the Linux kernel, it is he who maintains the kernel freshness on the console.
Paul Cercueil (ayla) : Student. He likes all sorts of embedded devices and code, for example, wrote a bootloader for GCW.
Steven J. Hill (sjhill) : MIPS Technologies employee. He really likes that in this thing MIPS processor.
Artur Rojek (zear) : Responsive Pole. Ported a bunch of games, and continues to do so.
Dmitry Smagin (dsmagin) : Broke Ritmix RZX-50, ported games for it, and will do it with GCW.
João Henrique (JohnnyonFlame) : Ports emulators and thus learns more about Linux.
Those who ordered the Special Edition (double RAM and memory) will first receive the usual console, and then the Special Edition, i.e. two consoles! Already have the first 20 owners of consoles. And my developer version was stolen at the customs. ')
