Firefox OS shown at CES 2013

At the technology exhibition CES 2013 has already shown Ubuntu Phone OS . Soon after this, another mobile operating system was shown - Firefox OS. Previously, this OS was only available as an emulator for the PC.

Mozilla demonstrated a nouneym device with a pre-installed mobile OS Firefox OS. Mozilla is positioning its OS as an operating system for budget devices, which can work on very weak devices. A device with Firefox OS can be based on the ARMv6 platform and have only 256 MB of RAM. When demonstrating the operation of the device, the operating system worked without “brakes”.

By the way, this year ZTE may release its own device based on the mentioned OS. This was announced by the CEO of ZTE USA, giving an interview to Bloomberg. These devices, first of all, will be designed for the European market.

Unfortunately, there is no information about what kind of devices these will be, or even information about telecom operators with which ZTE will cooperate. Among other things, Mozilla will work with Qualcomm and TCL. TCL is also going to release its own Firefox phone, not just the components for it.

It seems that ZTE is moving away from working with Google and its Android, trying to find alternative solutions. According to analysts from Strategy Analytics, Mozilla may take up 1% of the mobile OS market as early as 2013. But it is clear that for the time being all these predictions are simply fortune telling on the coffee grounds.

However, Mozilla OS for mobile devices can really become a competitor for Android and iOS (along with Ubuntu Phone OS).

And here are some videos from CES related to Mozilla OS.
