Tommy Edison has been blind since birth, but that doesn’t stop him from using his Instagram mobile photo app, Mashable writes . “It's kind of fun for me, I've never had a camera before,” he says in a YouTube video.

In the video, Edison explains how he uses Instagram — how he takes a picture, edits, signs, and publishes it on Instagram. Edison cannot see his photographs and not all of them work well for him, but commentators let him know what they see in the photographs.

Using the “special features” on his iPhone, Edison can make Siri read everything he touches — from apps and Instagram filter names to buttons for publishing on social networks. He signs photos using speech recognition.

In addition to Instagram, Edison also runs a YouTube channel , where he talks about funny moments in a blind person’s life, explains how he cooks food for himself, and all sorts of other things.

For blind people there are a number of other applications. One, for example, helps determine the denomination of the bills in your hands, the other with the help of Foursquare data helps the visually impaired people to navigate the streets.
