MEDT is preparing a new concept of the information code of the Russian Federation
The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation (MEDT) is preparing to present the concept of the information code of Russia, Prime-Tass reports.
Tseren Tserenov, Deputy Director of the Department of Corporate Governance at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, believes that the norms relating to information protection are currently discredited - this is confirmed, for example, by selling closed databases of various departments. The state, declaring the protection of information, does not fulfill these obligations, since the existing information legislation does not work.
According to Tserenov, in developing an approach to regulating information relations, one should focus on the intangible nature of information, because as an object of law it cannot relate to tangible property. It is also necessary to categorize information in order to single out the few categories that the state will truly protect.

Experts who participated in the round table “Principles of Information Regulation of Russia” organized by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade also believe that the existing legislation in the field of information is unsystematic (including the new law On Information, Information Technologies and Protection of Information published on July 29, 2006) . It was created without a single approach, and now it is necessary to codify it.
