ICANN continues the process of formalizing relations with national domain administrators

As part of the Structural Accounting Program, ICANN, an international corporation that is responsible for allocating Internet address space, has signed 7 new agreements with administrators of national top-level domains. Relations were formalized by exchanging ICANN letters with registries of the following domains:

* SE - Sweden, the domain is managed by the Internet Infrastructure Foundation;
* RS - Serbia; Registry - Serbian National Register of Internet Domain Names (RNIDS);
* NZ - New Zealand, the domain administrator - Domainz, a subsidiary of InternetNZ;
* IT - Italy, administrator - Istituto di Informatica e Telematica of CNR (IIT-CNR);
* CK - Cook Islands, Telecom Cook Islands Limited (TCIL);
* FM - Federated States of Micronesia, FSM Telecommunications Corporation (FSMTC);
* SB - Solomon Islands, Solomon Telekom Company Limited.

The Structural Accounting Program provides two ways to formalize ICANN's relations with national domain administrators. The first is based on the signing of an agreement, which sets out the mutual obligations of the national domain administrator and ICANN, as well as ways to resolve possible disputes and the duration of the contract. This method is designed for registries that need documentary evidence of formalizing relations with ICANN.

The second option - the exchange of letters between ICANN and the administrator of the national domain - is designed for those who are sufficiently positive response to the application with a request to formalize the relationship.

Today ICANN has already issued 36 agreements with national domain administrators. Further information on the procedure for exchanging letters and signing agreements between ICANN and national domain registries can be found here.
