On-board car computer with Linux
The Chinese company DingCheng Electronics announced information about its new product - the onboard car computer called CarPC 102. This piece of hardware is made in the form factor 2 DIN and can work under different operating systems, including Windows CE (98, ME, 2000, XP), and also under Red Flag Linux.
The stuffing of the CarPC 102 is quite decent. This is an Intel Pentium M 1.1 GHz processor, Intel 855 chipset, 256 MB RAM (expandable up to 1 GB) and a 40 GB hard drive. The set also includes a DVD / CD-RW drive, a 7-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 × 768, a GPS receiver and an SD card reader. In addition, an optional GPRS or CDMA modem can be connected to CarPC 102. Offers DingCheng Electronics and a more advanced version - with a 1.6 GHz processor, a camera, a TV tuner and a trip information recording system.
The time to market and the cost of both the standard and advanced versions of the CarPC 102 are not yet known.
