Photo hosting Flickr updated: Places and the new world map
The most popular photo hosting site in the world today Flickr will present two new geo-functions announced last month: Flickr Places and a new world map.
Places is 100 thousand pages devoted to different places (cities, states, countries, regions) on which photos taken in these places will be displayed. That is, if you want to see photos of the same Moscow, you will need to go to the page Places, dedicated to the capital of Russia. In addition to photos, local information will be displayed there, such as maps, weather and place of time.
Flickr already has an interactive map displaying geo-tagged photos taken in different parts of the world. Improvements to the map will mainly affect the user interface. Instead of simple pink dots, there will be “hot tags”, upon pressing of which a “phototape” will appear - the same geographic tagging will be used to determine the terrain.
