Not without excitement we write this post - yes, we undertook to organize the first PyCon in Russia. In short, you can go to the
PyCon.ru website
; all the information is there. And under the cut, we tell who we are and why we are going to spend it all that way.
Brief backgroundWith the idea to conduct PyCon in Russia,
Anton Patrushev came to us at it-people a year ago. But we decided to go to it progressively: at first we had a
meeting of (un) anonymous pythonists of Ekaterinburg . At it - we met, agreed and organized in February 2012 - the conference
ekb.py , in which 130 people took part. (Then the same team of organizers held a general
conference of Ural developers for 500 participants in May 2012 - and learned how to work with large formats). Now we are ready for PyCon.
As we see the first PyCon Russia (February 24-25, 2013)')
- This will be a conference for experienced developers. The first time I really want to set the bar high in terms of content.
- We will bring several legendary foreign speakers. Jeff Lindsay, Russell Keith-Magee and Armin Ronacher are now willing to come to us.
- Our program committee is looking for the top 20 Russian speakers. The program also includes 5 workshops and several round tables.
- The conference will be an exit (in the training center 30 km away from the city). When everyone lives and studies in one place - the community is formed steeper :) Plus for visiting students (and there will be most of them): living in the country is much cheaper than in the city. And the wifi is good there.
- The conference will be a two-day. (If we already go to the Urals, then for two days, not for one). As usual - we promise that there will be little free time and no one will be bored;)
