The Axel Springer Russia publishing house has officially denied rumors about plans to launch tabloids in Russia,
according to the company's website. In particular, the ID refutes the information
given on August 5 by Gazeta.Ru about the planned release of several new newspapers, the first of which will be yellow - this was the case at the beginning of the expansion of Axel Springer in Poland, where the ID’s products now occupy 44% of the market.
“We do not plan to release tabloids in Russia and, moreover, we are not aware of any Polish scenario as the strategy for the expansion of Axel Springer in the Russian market,” said Ms. Regina von Fleming, general director of Axel Springer Russia.
The article Gazeta.Ru also said that Axel Springer was concerned about the activity of
Russian Newsweek : “Recently, its editor-in-chief, Leonid Parfyonov, told the colleagues that the Polish Newsweek had seriously subsided due to the AS-launched daily newspaper.” The statement on the ID site refutes this information too: “The chief editor of Russian Newsweek magazine, Leonid Parfyonov, is outraged at the publication of such rumors and speculation on his behalf in this regard:“ It’s a pity that
www.gazeta.ru does not always follow professional principles of journalism ” .
