Rutreker registers its name as a trademark

Earlier this month, the largest Bittorrent site of the RuNet “Rutreker” filed documents for registration of the trademarks rutracker and rutrackerorg, reports the Izvestia newspaper. Among the purposes of registration declared by the owners of the resource is the sale of souvenirs and the fight against fraudsters posing as Rutracker.org.

The representative of Rutreker assured that the registration is made for the same reasons that any other company experiencing growth would conduct it. For example, there are services that impersonate the original rutracker.org and are engaged in phishing, extort money, etc. On the other hand, the representative promised that the prosecution of the owners of the site rutracker.ru, whose domain name is conformable to the Rutreker domain, is not planned, although this is quite possible in a judicial proceeding.

A representative of Rutreker also promised to start producing souvenirs with the site’s symbols if a partner was found. However, according to the head of LiveInternet, German Klimenko, this explanation sounds implausible:
