Difficult childhood is now MySpace

MySpace and other similar social networks adversely affect the younger generation of Britons. Because of them, children do not move much and rarely are in the fresh air, which provokes excess weight and other health problems. The head of the British Children's Ministry, Beverly Hughes, spoke about this at the presentation of a report on the state’s contribution to parenting.

According to Ms. Hughes, an over-caution of parents who are safer in keeping their children at home in front of the “box” than letting them go plays a big role in the development of their dependence on the Internet and the loss of their interest in outdoor games. However, parents are justified here by the fact that every year there are less and less safe places to play in the cities: sealing buildings and active traffic eat up the last remaining playgrounds.

Actually, it is precisely the ill-conceived state policy regarding the infrastructure necessary for the healthy development of the child that the lion's share of attention is paid to in that very report. For accusations against the Internet, Mrs. Minister has already received a mountain of sarcasm from the press: after all, it is much easier to blame World of Warcraft than to make real efforts to build playgrounds.
