Cappa - an interesting project of personal hydroelectric power station

In some countries, mini-hydroelectric power stations are being actively used, which supply electricity not to cities, but households. One of the companies decided to release an even more portable solution that could successfully replace a backup source of electricity in case of interruptions in the work of the fixed network. This is a Cappa miniature hydro turbine.

This device allows you to get a little energy, being immersed in a fast-running water stream. It is clear that the faster the water flows, the more electricity the turbine produces (up to certain limits). On average, its power is 250 watts (at a water flow rate of 2 m / s), so that the electric furnace is not enough, but on a laptop and fluorescent lighting completely.

Actually, in regions rich in large and small rivers with good flow, such devices can be a worthy alternative to stationary power supply. Computers, low-power household appliances - all this can be supplied with energy thanks to Cappa. Unlike diesel or gasoline generators, Cappa does not make noise or stink, yes.

But there is one fly in the ointment in this whole barrel of honey. Cappa cost is as much as 12 thousand US dollars. Probably, in some remote regions, one or two houses can be exchanged for such a turbine (in small villages of central Ukraine, for example, the cost of an average house is 7-10 thousand US dollars). But this is only the beginning, and the turbine did not get into mass production. After starting sales and increasing demand, the price may well go down, as is often the case.

The device is not yet sold, the developers are conducting the final testing of the turbine. Soon Cappa, according to the promises of developers, will hit the market.
