The leadership of Dell has announced that the corporation will no longer produce and sell smartphones. Earlier this year, the company stopped selling its smartphones in the United States, but offered mobile devices in China. Now it has become clear that Dell stops the smartphone business altogether, planning to shift efforts to a similar area - the production of tablet PCs.
However, only devices based on Windows RT and Windows 8 will be made, the company will not produce tablets with Android OS. Representatives of Dell also said about the possibility of producing ultrabooks / PCs with touchscreen displays running Windows 8. By the way, new models of Latitude tablets and XPS laptops are already included with this operating system.

As for smartphones, the company will completely stop working with hardware, but Dell will continue to work with mobile software. True, the mobile software produced by Dell will be intended primarily for corporations and not for private users.
It is worth noting that Dell has repeatedly released interesting mobile devices that never became popular. For example, the Dell Streak device was the same as the Galaxy Note now. But the hybrid tablet and smartphone from Samsung has become popular, but the Dell Streak is not.
Anyway, Dell is one of the largest manufacturers of PCs and laptops in the world, although it has already positioned itself as an “IT company” that produces “IT solutions”, not computers.
