The first channel announced the launch of a pilot project of Internet broadcasting based on Microsoft Silverlight technology. Starting from November 9, a wide audience can get acquainted with the advantages of the new broadcasting technology by watching the video series “King of the Ring” on the website
king.1tv.ru. Naturally, viewing is possible only when installing a
special browser plugin .
The development of an Internet project in the Silverlight format was ordered by the creators of the TV project from the Red Square company. The executor was the company
SMS Media Solutions with the participation of the Russian representative office of Microsoft (details of mutual settlements are not reported).

As you know, Silverlight is an almost complete analogue of the Adobe Flash platform, on which such multimedia web projects are traditionally made. The only difference is that the Flash module is installed on 99% of personal computers, and only a few enthusiasts have the Silverlight plugin. In other words, the creators of such web projects actually popularize this technology at their own expense, sacrificing their popularity.

“The project should demonstrate the benefits of cross-media solutions and give a serious impetus to their development,” said Marina Serova, CEO of SMS Media Solutions. “We purposefully monitor the convergence of technologies and try to either be first in new ways of working with content, or act“ ahead of the curve ”, anticipating and even setting trends,” adds Alexander Kessel, CEO of Krasny Kvadrat.
