Research methodology

We collect data on salaries indicated in vacancies / resumes on the main Job portals and then put them in our job directory according to the name of the vacancy / resume. If the title of a vacancy / resume is too general or inaccurate (for example: “Tester” or “Test Engineer”), then after studying the description of a vacancy / resume we select it for a specific position on the basis of an expert assessment. In this post we use only the data obtained from the vacancies .

Junior Tester (manual and / or automated)

Such a small number of vacancies of Younger testers, and in the regions their almost complete absence (less than 4x), we explain that most often with low input requirements, employers very quickly find such specialists for themselves. On the other hand, for young professionals, this kind of vacancy is of considerable interest.

Testing Engineer (manual)

A test engineer is able to write test cases and test plans, usually testing with a black box.

Lead Testing Engineer (Manual)

Similar to the Testing Engineer, plus more work experience. Perhaps the ability to read the code - testing the "white box".

Test Engineer (automated)

They use ready-made auto tests, are able to adapt them. Speak one or several programming languages, often used in the work of scripting languages.

This is due to the fact that, firstly, the complexity of the developed software, which simply needs to be tested, is growing, and, secondly, the requirements on the quality of the developed software are increasing. Even 5 years ago, the Tester profession was unusual, but today it is difficult to imagine a software company that does not have a testing department or at least a “mini otdelchik.”
