In the coming months,
SanDisk will launch an interesting device called the
Vaulter Disk , a module that is installed in a PCI Express slot with 8 or 16 GB of NAND memory onboard.

This device is intended for use in conjunction with the HDD and, according to the manufacturer (
well-founded ), will serve to accelerate the operation of the PC disk subsystem.
SanDisk initially plans to distribute Vaulter Disk exclusively to PCs from various OEMs. But during 2008 the device will be available in retail.
Accurate data on the cost of Vaulter Disk and date to market is unavailable.
