At the beginning of 2008,
Comtrend , which is engaged in the production of network equipment, will introduce an Ethernet adapter for transmitting data over power networks.

The main advantage of the PowerGrid 940 Ethernet adapter is its high data transfer rate, which will be up to 400 Mbps.
The adapter will be manufactured in conjunction with
DS2 . An application to IEEE 1901 for standardization has already been filed. It is not known whether the speed will really equal 400 Mbit per second. Apparently, this is the peak value. But the figure, when applied to conventional power lines, looks more than attractive.
