In Russian iTunes Store got pornography from the domain .XXX

On the evening of December 5, users of the Russian-language iTunes Store were in for a surprise: in the section on foreign films, instead of the expected content, they saw a lot of banners with links to porn sites in the zone. XXX:



The site dedicated to the products of Apple, already sounded the alarm: many thought that the Russian iTunes Store hacked by hackers.

Some time later, it turned out that pornography got into the iTunes Store due to programmer errors: when working on creating a new section of the store, they decided to temporarily attach it to a non-existent domain and typed www.xxx.xxx or similar in the “URL” line.

But they did not know that the xxx.xxx domain actually exists, and it contains the promo site of the ICM Registry, the zone administrator. XXX, on which banners are hung with links to porn sites in this zone. And these banners became visible in the iTunes Store.

A few hours later the section with "foreign films" was closed.

This case shows that real professionals selected domain names for ICM Registry sites. The domain on which visitors fall randomly is a good domain. And the .XXX zone received free advertising on the Russian iTunes Store.
