Self-propelled road construction combine: 1 km of road in 1 day and $ 3-5 million

Hello,

Today I want to share an interesting invention, on the video for which we recently had a chance to work at Alconost - an automated road combine. A wonderful unit prepares the base of the road, and after it leaves a smooth roadbed of interlocking concrete slabs. The developer claims that using such a combine, one kilometer of a four-lane road can be built in one day, spending only $ 3-5 million on this. For reference: now a kilometer of such a road is built on average for 30 days and costs 15-30 million dollars.

Sounds like a solution to the problem of bad and expensive roads.

In more detail about the principle of operation of the combine - under a cat.

For the combine to work, it is necessary to prepare a place for the future road in advance: remove the top layer of soil, level and compact the soil.

In the process of the combine, materials are constantly being supplied to it: crushed stone and concrete slabs. Crushed stone on a moving belt is fed into the suspended bunkers in the bow, from where it is distributed on the ground in front of the combine. Crushed stone is leveled and compacted by vibration rollers. The position of the combine in space is constantly monitored by sensors: in order to ensure a perfectly smooth foundation of the road, the amount of rubble supplied to the ground is regulated by automatic equipment.

At the same time, a series of interlocking concrete slabs is formed on the moving belt in the middle of the combine. When the row is ready - it is placed on rubble with the help of an automatic manipulator, it engages with the previous row and, for additional strength, is poured with a binder solution.

The plates are made of vibropressed concrete and reinforced with non-metallic composite reinforcement. The developer provides several shapes and sizes of plates suitable for different climatic conditions.

All that remains to be done manually is to lay a thin layer of asphalt on the resulting concrete base of the road.

The author of the invention, the Russian engineer Dahir Semenov, argues that the resulting road will be not only smooth and even, but durable, and will have a warranty period of three times longer than the road built in the usual way.

And what do you think, can this invention be a solution to the problem of bad roads?

UPD: 3D render of the combine is provided by the customer and is not the result of our work.

UPD: At the request of the customer, we lay out a more detailed 17-minute video that reveals the nuances of the road combine and answers most of the questions asked in the comments.
