One of the American users of Apple bought a new Macbook Pro with a Retina display, but
ran into a problem that was already mentioned many times on the Apple forums: the so-called "ghosts", that is, the residual effect from the previous image on the screen.

For example, the photo shows a gray display, on which, until three minutes, a photograph of Phil Schiller, Tim Cook and Jonathan Ive was “burning”.
The aforementioned user named Matthew Clevely issued an extended warranty Apple Care and hoped that the company would change his monitor. Apple Support has always been known for exceptional customer loyalty. In the case of the slightest malfunction, Apple devices are quickly repaired or changed to the same new. They can even give a new model of the computer instead of the old one, if the old device has broken down and is already out of production, so there is no possibility to replace it with a similar one.

In general, Matthew Clevely took the monitor and drove to the nearest service center. It turned out that Apple's technical support had already faced similar complaints and prepared a special test to check for defective monitors.
On the display for three minutes keep the image of white and black squares.

Then for one minute they hold a gray background.

If after this artifacts are still visible - the display is considered defective and must be replaced. Matthew Cleveley gladly agreed to check the monitor, but he somehow was able to pass the test. No artifacts could be seen! With utter bewilderment, Matthew drove home - and began to figure out how this was possible. After experimenting with the Apple dough, he found out that he shows a different result, if you use not black squares, but gray ones.
Naturally, in a minute almost all the artifacts disappear, but even with such timing, you can see them if you replace the black color from the original test.
To check, he made a version of the test with squares of different shades of gray.

When fills with a gray background in three minutes, the screen looks like this:

In another minute (under the terms of the original test), the artifacts are still noticeable.

Matthew Clevely invites Apple to change the test and urgently improve service.
