Notes after meeting with Sergey Belousov

On Friday, the final of the next Web Ready contest was held, one of the winners - Qbaka Respect (if I were a programmer, I would probably admire even more). I will not comment on the winners in the mobile nomination, but I will share with a short summary after the joint press conference and presentation of Sergey Belousov.

By the way, this opinion is not only an entrepreneur, but also an engineer and a representative of a venture fund.

I absolutely agree with Sergey about the importance of tracking trends. He compares them to the wind that blows in the sail of a startup. I would add a pulse analogy.
')
“If your startup develops without taking trends into account, then most likely you are doing something wrong.”

So, I remember the following:

1. No Google search.

Google does not help with complex queries, more and more often information is more correct and easier to find on highly specialized sites, it is still not clear how to deal with social search.

2. Facebook growth.

Despite the record unsuccessful IPO, we are waiting for brand new products

3. Apple is no longer perfect, and no one knows where it will lead.

Previously, almost any apple solution became prophetic: for example, the absence of a CD-ROM; mobile devices without flash support, this is normal, etc. Now the new iPhone is scratching, and the iPad mini is a strange product, in fact it has legitimized the mini-tablet market on Android.

4. HTML5 or apps store?

There was a trend that everything would go into HTML 5, and in the last year some experts argued that most of the web would go into applications.
Both points of view have the right to exist, but so far none of them win.

5. Cell phones everywhere!

Mobile phones are used even where there is no cellular connection. For example, in several African countries there is no connection, but everyone has mobile phones (games, books, etc.).

High-quality and fast communication will appear everywhere in the next 2 years. LTE speed will be reached!

6. Powerful mobile computer.

The performance of smartphones is high and constantly growing.
More and more tasks that only the computer could do are performed by our mobile device.

7. Banks! Previously, they could afford to be conservative, now not.

Especially in the B2C sector, where their customers are users of the Internet and social networks. They no longer understand the conservative approach, which means that banks must be mobile and user friendly, and this should be reflected in their web interface.

8. Education, medicine, state. services.

In all areas, the mass of bad and outdated decisions are opportunities.

9. New reality.

Internet life and feelings of being online take up a huge part of a person’s life, and it’s not clear what place this reality, auxiliary or dominant, will take in our life ...

10. Cloud computing.

Cloud is an everyday word in almost any business. Apparently now on the Big Data queue.

11. Start-up competitions must be international.

Any Russian startup get-together should call teams from Europe, Asia, America and do more sections in English. We do not live in Russia, but in the world.

PS This note is not a verbatim synopsis, but rather a personal impression.
