Cross-platform media center XBMC 12 Beta 2 is available for download.
After several months of testing, the developers of the popular XBMC media center presented the first official version (the so-called easy-to-install) XBMC for Android. This version is based on XBMC 12 “Frodo” Beta 2, and contains most of the functions that are available in the same version of the media player for Windows, OS X, Linux, iOS. Download the release here .
The media center itself supports playback of audio / video files, online video, XBMC works with images. In addition, there are many plug-ins that allow you to expand the capabilities of the software package, turning it into a real multimedia combine. XBMC was originally developed for the Xbox, with the idea of turning this game console into a home media center. After some time, the developers supplemented the idea, turning the package into a universal media center.
Prior to the above release, the XBMC version for Android was also available, or rather, the source code was available, which needed to be compiled, or the application already compiled by a third party could be downloaded. Now the package, as indicated above, is available for download as an installation package, so users can be happy.
Unfortunately, not all devices are currently supported by the current version. It is known that smartphones and tablets are supported on Amlogic AM8726, Allwinner A10, and Rockchip RK3066 platforms. A full list of supported devices is available on the XBMC Wiki .
