Cambridge plans to open courses to counter the dangers of artificial intelligence

Scientists are going to study the degree of threat that robots can pose to humanity, as well as to look for possible ways to counter them.

There are 4 main objectives of monitoring and research (which are considered to be potential threats).

')

- Artificial Intelligence;

- changing of the climate;

- nuclear weapon;

- biotechnology.

The founders of the Center for the Study of Global Risks (CSER, Center for the Study of Existential Risk) will be Lord Rees and a number of prominent global cosmologists.

Rees, by the way, published the book “Our last century” in 2003, where he warned that the destructive focus of human activity would finish off all of humanity by the year 2100.

Even Irving John Good (Turing's ally), a cryptographer and one of the first computer scientists, believed that machines with enormous intelligence would be built in the very near future.

And he believed that the construction of such a machine will be the last invention of mankind.

Hugh Price, professor of philosophy, one of the project’s founders:

We need to take the consequences of creating artificial intelligence very seriously. This may well be Pandora's Box. The risk is great, because too much is at stake, the current world is very dependent on technology.

In general, the basic philosophy here is that we are obliged to approach with maximum seriousness things that carry a potential threat to our existence. In this case, I'm talking about technology.

Cambridge, one of the oldest universities, recently celebrated its 800th anniversary. Our goal is also to ensure that humanity can see the thousand-year anniversary.
