Google has further strengthened its position in the US Internet search market. According to recent
statistics from Nielsen // NetRatings in June 2006, Google’s share increased to 49.4%. For the first summer month, the company processed 2.67 billion search queries only from US users. The load on Google servers for the year increased by 31%.
Yahoo still holds the second place with a market share of 23%. The leaders in growth rates over the past year are Ask.com (66%) and MyWay (51%) search engines. At the same time, four of the ten largest search sites have deteriorated their position over the past year.
